Progression Timeline
Month 1: Building the Foundation
- Core Classroom Training: 3D Animation Jumpstart Course
- Primary Software: Autodesk Maya
- Course Goal: Learn to navigate the Maya interface, understand 3D space, and build a solid foundation before diving into complex workflows.
- Mentorship & Polish: None. Focus entirely on internalising the core digital fundamentals and completing initial classroom assignments to build your animation baseline.
Month 2: Cinematic Polish
- Core Classroom Training: 3D Lighting & Rendering Course
- Primary Software: Autodesk Maya, Arnold Renderer
- Course Goal: Apply the final cinematic polish, mastering lighting principles, the Arnold renderer, and compositing to achieve photorealistic results.
- Mentorship & Polish (3D Animation Jumpstart): Begin weekly 1-on-1 sessions to re-optimise your foundational digital assets under expert guidance.
Month 3: Advanced Node-Based Compositing
- Core Classroom Training: Compositing Course
- Primary Software: Nuke
- Course Goal: Dive into the industry-standard for high-end VFX, learning node-based workflows, rotoscoping, keying, 3D tracking, and how to seamlessly integrate CG elements with live-action plates.
- Mentorship & Polish (Lighting and Rendering): Dedicate this period to perfecting the cinematic look-development of your past scenes, ensuring optimal render settings and photorealistic light interactions.
Month 4: Dynamic Motion Graphics
- Core Classroom Training: Motion Graphics Course
- Primary Software: After Effects
- Course Goal: Transition from static design to moving images, mastering keyframing, easing, and complex compositing to create professional title sequences, advertisements, and social media content.
- Mentorship & Polish (Compositing): Work with your mentor to troubleshoot node setups, refine keying edges, track integrations, and ensure your VFX shots are clean and production-ready.
Month 5: The Refinement Phase

- Mentorship & Polish (Motion Graphics): With classroom instruction concluded, your sole focus shifts to pushing the visual quality of your graphics sequences. Under mentor guidance, you will enhance easing details, refine material pacing, and ensure a cohesive finish for all composited layers.
Month 6: The Final Showreel
- Core Classroom Training: No new classes.
- Month 6 Focus (Final Portfolio Compilation): You will assemble all your polished integration and visual effects projects from the previous five months into a cohesive, professional showreel. This includes final editing, timing tweaks, and a comprehensive review by your mentor to ensure your portfolio is ready for the creative economy.
