Progression Timeline
Month 1: Building the Foundation
- Core Classroom Training: 3D Animation Jumpstart Course
- Primary Software: Autodesk Maya
- Course Goal: Learn to navigate the Maya interface, understand 3D space, and build a solid foundation before diving into complex modelling and sculpting workflows.
- Mentorship & Polish: None. Focus entirely on internalising core digital fundamentals and completing initial classroom assignments to build your design baseline.
Month 2: Digital Clay & Character Blocking
- Core Classroom Training: 3D Digital Sculpting Course (Part 1)
- Primary Software: ZBrush
- Course Goal: Dive into the industry-standard for high-end sculpting, mastering brush techniques, Dynamesh, and ZRemesher while focusing on core human anatomy and character blocking.
- Mentorship & Polish (3D Animation Jumpstart): Begin weekly 1-on-1 sessions to re-optimise your foundational digital assets and initial 3D projects under expert guidance.
Month 3: Advanced Creature & Hard-Surface Details
- Core Classroom Training: 3D Digital Sculpting Course (Part 2)
- Primary Software: ZBrush
- Course Goal: Advance into complex creature designs, hard-surface sculpting, and fine high-frequency detailing such as scales, wrinkles, wrinkles, and skin pores.
- Mentorship & Polish (3D Digital Sculpting Part 1): Work 1-on-1 with your mentor to refine anatomical structures, correct form volumes, and polish your initial character models.
Month 4: Photorealistic Surfacing & Texturing
- Core Classroom Training: 3D Texturing & Shading Course

- Course Goal: Bring models to life by mastering UV unwrapping, material creation in Maya’s Hypershade, and seamless texture generation using Substance and modern AI workflows.
- Mentorship & Polish (3D Digital Sculpting Part 2): Dedicate this period to perfecting your creature sculpts, troubleshooting complex skin pore resolutions and fine surface textures with your mentor.
Month 5: The Refinement Phase
- Core Classroom Training: No new classes.
- Mentorship & Polish (3D Texturing & Shading): With classroom instruction concluded, your sole focus shifts to pushing your look-development portfolio. Elevate your material details, maps, and texture resolutions under direct mentor guidance.
Month 6: The Final Showreel
- Core Classroom Training: No new classes.
- Month 6 Focus (Final Portfolio Compilation): You will assemble all your polished digital sculpts, textured creature meshes, and asset turnarounds into a cohesive, professional showreel. This includes final editing, timing tweaks, and a comprehensive review by your mentor to ensure your portfolio is ready for the creative economy.
