JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a 3D Character Artist, you will play a critical role in our creative team, transforming 2D concepts into vibrant, animation-ready 3D characters. Your responsibilities will scale based on your experience level:

Create highly detailed, stylised 3D organic characters (both human and animal) from concept art through to final production assets.

Perform high-resolution digital sculpting in ZBrush, capturing the essence, silhouette, and specific exaggeration principles required for the project’s unique visual identity.

Execute precise retopology and UV unwrapping in Maya or Blender, ensuring geometry and edge flow are fully optimised for complex facial and body rigging.

Develop vibrant, stylised textures and materials using industry-standard tools like Substance Painter.

Collaborate closely with art directors, concept artists, and riggers to ensure characters meet technical, aesthetic, and storytelling goals while maintaining strict consistency.

For Senior Level: Take ownership of complex “hero” characters, assist in troubleshooting asset integration into the animation pipeline, establish standard operating procedures for character creation, and actively mentor mid-level and junior artists.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
A certificate, diploma, or degree in Computer Graphics, 3D Art, or a related field (or equivalent professional production experience).

Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in 3D character modelling and sculpting within a fast-paced studio pipeline.

Mastery of ZBrush for high-detail organic sculpting is an absolute must.

Strong working knowledge of either Autodesk Maya or Blender for retopology, UV layout, and final asset delivery.

Exceptional grasp of human and animal anatomy, silhouette, proportion, and facial topology.

Strong technical and artistic skills in texturing and shading workflows, particularly stylised PBR techniques using Substance Painter.

Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with the agility to meet deadlines and iterate based on directorial feedback.

Bonus Skills: Knowledge of Marvelous Designer for dynamic cloth simulation, and exposure to real-time engines (Unreal Engine, Unity).

For Senior Track: A proven track record of guiding hero characters from 2D concept to final rigged asset, with a deep understanding of advanced facial blendshape topology and technical pipeline optimisation.

A compelling and up-to-date portfolio showcasing stylised character models, specifically including wireframe turnarounds (to demonstrate animation-ready topology), UV layouts, and texture sheets.
