Student unions usually organize student week events in most schools to allow students to participate in extracurricular activities to help build other aspects of student life. Some benefits it provides students include networking and exposure to diverse perspectives from panel discussions, seminars, workshops, and training. These were the key considerations of the planners and organizers of Tech Week at Covenant University.
Last week, we had the incredible opportunity to immerse ourselves in the exciting Tech Week event for the students of Covenant University. This was the first of its kind in the school, and we are glad that we partook in it by sponsoring the event and speaking to the students about Animation and the CreaTech industry.
The event was held from the 30th to the 3rd of June 2023, but we had the company well represented by some of our best team members. Accessing the venue was daunting; it sounded like an unpopular place in the school that few people knew about.
The officials warmly welcomed the team when they eventually arrived at the venue. While waiting for the presentation, they had a good time getting acquainted with the officials that briefed them on the general idea behind the event.
Some of the other sponsors for the event were Zenith Bank Plc. and Oraimo. The turnout was massive and impressive, but seeing so many young people show so much willingness for knowledge acquisition outside the traditional school curriculum was also encouraging.
Our speaker, Mr. Chimezie Okeke, spoke about Animation as a Createch tool. If you want to know more about the Createch industry, please check out our previous post here. Read Here. Some of the critical points of the presentation were:
- He explained the meaning of Animation and the different applications of Animation. Some of the areas of Animation can include Film, games, advertising, education, and more.
- He also discussed emerging fields such as VR/AR/XR, Artificial Intelligence, and SVOD subscription video-on-demand services. He further stated that “with more representation and globalization of digital content, the future of the animation industry is bright”.
- Another point of interest he mentioned was the Animation pipeline. The three layers are Pre-Production, production, and post-production.
The presentation increased the students’ interest, especially when they saw some of our projects and the companies we worked with. Most of them saw this as an excellent opportunity to follow a career in Animation.
To support the zeal and interest shown in the Animation, we offered a 20% discount on all courses so that any of the students present at the event can apply and take the courses at discounted prices. We collected interested students’ names and other details so that we will follow up with them.
Considering how beneficial events like this are and that it aligns with our vision to train 10,000 youths yearly in digital arts, we will be happy to sponsor more events like this. If you would like to know what it entails, send a mail to info@orangevfx.com
